The challenge
Older cows, long lactations and repeated calving risk
Asher and Lydia described their previous calving experience as having generally a lot of milk fever, with flow packs used all the time and cows going down.
Their system also created a high-risk profile: older cows, including cows over 12 years old, extended lactations around 360 days and calving three times a year.
The solution
Easy feeding over the first two feeds
X-Zelit fitted into the existing routine. Asher and Lydia described it as actually quite easy: the usual ration, with half a kilo of X-Zelit on top for the first two feeds.
That simple change gave them a practical way to support cows through the calving window without adding unnecessary complexity.
The result
No milk fever, no flow packs and no dead cows
Across the last two calvings, Asher and Lydia reported not even a hint of milk fever. They also said they had not used a flow pack and had not had a dead cow.
The result was not limited to milk fever. They also described a definite reduction in mastitis and cows milking better for longer.
